Searchin' In The Sun For Another Overload

Greetings,

The Colorado Springs Chess Club is holding the 3rd Round of the the August Swiss 90 (G/90+30, 5SS, $10 entry, USCF-rated, prizes) this Tuesday at 7pm! You can still enter the event with half point byes, just play one night, or even get a free extra rated game.

This week’s newsletter was inspired by Glen Campbell and his song Wichita Lineman, which has a chess connection. Rest in peace.

I got to visit the newest chess club in Colorado Springs, Club Chess!! They held an impromptu Blitz tournament after the Pikes Peak Open inspired by LM Brian Wall. It is an amazing location with high-tech video displays and a full service kitchen with an never-ending supply of free snacks and drinks. It was like God un-retired on the 8th day and said, “Let there be chess!” And it was good.

Rhett Langseth let his father down and failed to win the Blitz event. Here are the results:

The opening event at Club Chess!! was the previous weekend and won by LM Brian Wall, who has adverse possessed a couch at the site.
