We had a service issue at AWS earlier today and had to restore the MSA and Forums database backup from last night.
Any forum posts made since about 9PM Saturday were lost.
All tournament and membership updates since about 9PM Saturday evening will have to be re-posted from the primary databases. (No membership or tournament records were lost, they’re just not on the MSA server at this time.)
I can handle the tournament records, our Civi-CRM provider will need to handle the membership records, so it is likely those won’t be fully updated until some time on Monday. There may be other data sets that will need to be updated over the next day or two, but those are the most important ones.
Did I? I think we found out on first testing that if you quoted the whole previous message that it either didn’t take at all or suppressed the display. Let me try a partial quote.
How does this deal with messages “crossing”? The old system would warn you if you started a message on a thread and someone posted a new one before you finished.
I’ve been using Discourse on two of my own forums since early April as well as their meta forum. If there’s a feature to advise you that someone else has just posted in the topic you’re posting in, I’ve not seen it triggered yet. (I just asked about this in the DIscourse meta forum.)
There is a setting that will suppress the quote if it is the full text of the immediately previous post. I am not inclined to turn this feature off. There’s a ‘heart’ people can click on if they agree with or like a post rather than just say ‘me too’ or ‘+1’ in a separate post.
I’ve enabled the Discourse ‘reactions’ plugin, that brings up a few other options than the heart. (You might have to refresh the page for them to show up.)
The options include both a thumbs up (+1) and a thumbs down (-1). It will show you who gave which type of reaction.
