Submitting primary and secondary time control online

I just ran a tournament that was 40/30, G/10 (that is, 40 moves in 30 minutes, then sudden death 10…btw…there was a delay of 5 seconds).

When I tried to submit the rating report, the validation check wouldn’t allow me to enter that. I tried many combinations, my most hopeful being: “Game/40 (40/30, G/10)”

Anyway, I eventually entered Game/40 to get it to work. Are we not supposed to enter primary and secondary time controls online, or was there some better way to do it?

Thanks!

What rating system did you specify? That time control goes through fine if you use Regular, but gets an error message with Dual. Probably a bug, though the Regular/Dual/Quick business is such a mess I wouldn’t want to swear to it.

Currently dual and quick events must be entered with a time control in the form Game/xx, G/xx or SD/xx, where XX is an integer (The slash is optional.). For Quick games, xx must be between 5 and 29, for dual rated games xx must be between 30 and 60.

So for now, 40/30, SD/10 would be entered as SD/40 or G/40.

I’d like to collect more information than that, including information about increment and delay settings, but there are so many possibilities and no agreed-upon standard for encoding them. (And then you get into the issue of events with different time controls for some rounds or some schedules.)
