Have a quick question. If I am not the Chief of a category B or A but am a floor TD over 4 different sections, Do i get to count each section as a seperate B1?
If each section has 100 players, yes.

You are well advised to keep your own record of your TD activity.
The USCF’s records are incomplete and are based on what was reported when the event was rated.
Prior to February of 2005, all we had was the ID of the chief and assistant chief TD of each section.
Under the new ratings programming we can keep track of TDs using five different fields (assuming the data is entered when the event is uploaded or listed on the rating report when it is sent to the USCF office):
- Chief TD for the tournament (all sections)
- Assistant Chief TD for the tournament (all sections)
- Chief TD for each section.
- Assistant Chief TD for each section
- Other Assistant TDs
Where exactly ‘Floor Chief’ fits into the above is anybody’s guess. However, it seemed too much to try to create categories for every possible type of TD duty, such as working the floor, working in the TD room, etc.
Tim if what you said is true if one has over 100 and the other 2 have 50-100 and all three sections award over 1000 in prizes. I woudl have a B1, 2 c1’s and three tourns over 1000 then, right?
nolan, I already talked to Larry Pond about tourns that arent shown on msa.(due to not being listed on the report) He said all a person needs is a letter from the chief TD or organizer noting what their responsibilities were to credit it.
Yep for Be, 2 C1s. You have to be the chief that calculates the prizes for the $1000 to kick in. That is the point of the $1000;i.e., the ability to hand out prizes with all those ties.

I actually have fun calculating the prize payout. It’s like having a riddle or puzzle and trying to figure out the right answer. (=

Unfortunately, the best answer to most payout problems isn’t on the TD exams: SHOOT THE IDIOT WHO DESIGNED THIS TOURNAMENT!
Thank you, Mike. I’ve just finished wiping away a few tears of laughter.
Then again, my experience has been that about three seconds after the player’s hand releases the piece in the last move of the determining game, the prize winners all know exactly how much they have coming and expect the organizer to have already signed the checks.
You wish! A lot of times they have figured out that they should get more money than they won. That’s always a fun discussion.
As far as the checks go, that’s why I prefer to pay cash.

Speaking of the $1,000+ x3 requirement for ANTD/NTD, does the tournament need to be any specific Category to qualify (e.g., N, A, B, C, D)?

according to the rule book it should be a Category B (or sub) or C (or sub). I talked with larry pond through email and I think that as long as you still have all your B and C requirements that any tournament will work for the 1000.
