TD/Organizer Favorite WebSites

(Mods, feel free to lock/delete this thread if it strays too far over the AUGs - and I appologize in advance, if so.)

I’m compiling a bookmarks folder called “Chess Tournament Direction and Organization”. Below I’m going to list my entries so far, and would appreciate any suggested additions and/or modifications. Thanks.

USCF TD & Affiliate Support Area (secure.uschess.org/TD_Affil/TD_index.php)
USCF MSA Member Selection (uschess.org/msa/MbrLst.php)
USCF Forums - Chess Tournaments (viewforum.php?f=2)
USCF Rulebook Updates (main.uschess.org/content/view/7594/28/)
USCF Blitz Chess Rules (main.uschess.org/images/stories/ … v.2007.pdf)
USCF Bughouse Chess Rules (uschess.org/tournaments/2006 … ghouse.pdf)
USCF TD Certification Rules (uschess.org/tds/new2008tdcer … nrules.pdf)
Digital Chess Clock Reference (chess.about.com/cs/productequipm … b_dclk.htm)
Monroi (find with search engine)
WinTD // SwissSys (find with search engine)

For the MSA, this “unfiltered” one is more useful: uschess.org/msa/

I also keep bookmarks for the TLA pages (uschess.org/CL_2006_Yearbook.pdf).

A PDF for the 2007 Yearbook pages should be available fairly soon, the April issue should be in the mail in the next day or two if it isn’t already there.

As far as I know the lists of suspended TDs and suspended players have been kept up to date, there just haven’t been a lot of suspensions lately, you can check the Minutes of the EB meetings for them.

Please give us a heads up here in the forums when they do get posted. I can provide two corrections to the suspended list, if desired, but don’t know whom to contact (one deceased name, one incorrect ID # listed). Thanks for your additions, Mr. Hilery - I added some of them. I still prefer my MSA link since 95% of my MSA activity is looking up members - it saves me a click.

What about Tim Just’s TD Corner? Is it still around?

Bill Smythe

For a while TD Corner appeared in the paper supplements and on the old web site (though it was hard to find there). For a short time after the paper supplements were mostly discontinued, the web page was the only place you could find TD Corner. A couple of issues of an affiliate newsletter had a few TD Corners but I understand that publication has also ceased. Now-a-days much of the material covered in past TD Corners gets well discussed on the Forums and in Chess Life on the USCF Affairs page (with my by line), so TD Corner is pretty much out of business. BTW: I believe the next issue of Chess Life will have some words from yours truly on the Affairs page with the working title: Rulebook Notes: Delay Clocks.

I would send any such corrections (deceased players, wrong IDs, etc) to Joan Dubois, jdubois@uschess.org

Just a thread update, for those who may have been waiting with bated breath:

No .pdf this time - I think I like that.

I think I prefer the PDF because there’s more information on the screen at a time and it’s easier to print out. Also, we’ve been having a problem with some browsers not displaying really long pages correctly, though that doesn’t appear to be currently affecting this information. (But I’m probably not using the browser version we’ve had the reports of problems with at the moment.)

Long term this type of should still be better organized and expanded so that we have records of past state champions, etc. (Some people want to call this a ‘hall of records’ though personally I detest that term.)

To display or print out round robin pairings try this site. The defaults will give the tables in the back of the rulebook. If you want to experiment with it choose “New Screen” rather than “Rewrite” since you will have to leave and get back to the website to try different parameters.
