Tournament Supplies

Hello, all,

I just became a Club TD, and I was wondering about where to get stuff like pairing sheets and crosstables and stuff like that. Is there a place to get them, or can I make my own or something?

Thanks,

Charles

You can buy scoresheets from the USCF’s sales partner, uscfsales.com.

There should be forms online you can copy and use. Try the Brochures and Forms area or the Guide to Scholastic Chess.

Be sure to use the right colors when copying them:

Green for open sections with a prize fund over $500
Blue for reserve sections
Pink for women’s events
Salmon for Under/1000 events

Chapter and verse, Mike?

I think some women might object to pink

Charles, you can also purchase the USCF’s starter Kit, which contains the wallcharts, pairing sheets and some Rating Report Forms, I think. It comes with a blue vinal portfolio

The TD started Kit is very nice. Then make as many copies after that for all you’re tournaments. If you do use pairing cards, and have a number of different sections – you could use the different colors for the different sections. With one section all the games can be done way before the ending of the other section(s); that would give you time to do all the pairings for that section, before the end of all the games in the round. That would be the only reason for having different colors.

I prefer to use different colors for different functions, rather than for different sections:

white for wall charts
yellow for pairing sheets
pink for pairings in alphabetical order (large events only)
green for standings
blue for advance registration lists
etc

The first two of these are actually fairly standard. That way, you can tell players to “post their results on the yellow pairing sheet” and thus reduce the occurrence of players scribbling on the wall charts.

Thanks, everyone!
