USCF Admin offices

When I’m driving thru Crossville, TN this summer, is there any reason to stop by the USCF offices? Any displays? Chess sales showroom? Anyone know?

Book and equipment sales aren’t handled at the USCF office, so there’s no showroom.

If you happen to be there July 21-23, you can observe the ballot count, though it probably won’t be held at the USCF office. (Last year we used Harry Sabine’s law offices.) It’s about as exciting as watching the grass grow behind the USCF office, though.

Shucks…I was hoping for a museum or something…Guess I’ll pass.

There is no museum since the Hall of Fame closed. Until it gets reopened (in St. Louis, probably), there’s really not much to look, certainly not at in the Crossville office, just like there wasn’t that much to look at in the New Windsor office, especially not after the Hall of Fame was moved elsewhere and the B&E business was outsourced.

Are there commemorative bricks?

And if he schedules the trip at the right time would there be the chance to see Mike Nolan’s smiling face?

Yes, the bricks and chess pieces are out front, that’s about 30 seconds of sightseeing, right?

I haven’t been to Crossville in quite a while, not since last July, I think.

Guess I could stop by and see my brick…LOL

Every member of the USCF who gets anywhere near Crossville should make it a point to go by the office. I have written about my experience previously on the BaconLOG. I spent about 30 minutes seeing the bricks, not 30 seconds. I was given a tour and generally treated like royality. I only wish I had more time to spend perusing the book collection. If I make it to the Tennessee Senior again this year, I look forward to making another stop by the office.
