SuperNationals is going well. But, does anyone know why the pairings are not posted in a timely manner on the Internet? Parents and coaches want to see pairings for round three and in some cases nothing is there under pairings. If you go to pairings, you can see standings from an earlier round. Why is that? Also, except for the K-1 Championships, all the pairings are located downstairs from where the games are being played. Need to go to chess control? Hah! If you ask them a question, they don’t know the answers.
The posting of pairings and results to the web nowadays is the minimum players expect, especially at the scholastic nationals and unfortunately I am not at the event so cannot provide an explanation as to why this isn’t being done. Although knowing the back room staff I’m sure they are working on the problem.
However, one question I asked in the USCF Issues Forum, which probably got overlooked, is why in the K12 and K9 Championships sections, the player awarded the full point bye in the first round was the only unrated player in each section?
I just want to clarify that I’m not complaining about this but as a TD I would like to know what reasons could exist for doing this as it does seem to be against the full point bye rules. Possibly the scholastic regs say something although in other sections regular rated people received the full point byes, not the unrated people.
The TD staff at SuperNationals is not likely to be reading the Forums this weekend, they do have a few other things to do.
Phil is checking on the K12 Championship bye issue, I don’t see a problem with the K-9 Championship section, the only unrated had an opponent for game 1.
The problem with posting the K-6 Unrated standings has been corrected.
Phil says he THOUGHT he had the pairings for round 3 posted before he went to bed last night, but I don’t know what time that was.
The link to the pairings and results was posted on the USCF home page but it was about 1/2 way down on the right. I think they are posting a new banner link higher up on the home page.
I don’t generally handle changes to the home page, I did suggest yesterday afternoon that a link to the SuperNationals pairings and results needed to be more prominent.
It was done from Nashville earlier today. There is a more prominent link box on the top right of the USCF home page.
