2010 chess scholastics

Hi

Does anyone out there have any projections on the whereabouts of the 2010 Spring Scholastic National Championships? I can find info on the elementary nationals…not the junior high or high school. Yet, these are in 14 months. So, if anyone has any info, please let us know!!

Brian from Minnesota

And the dates. Some states are already booking their state scholastics without information when the nationals will be held. --Michael

You may have to check with Meeting Link to find out.

The 2010 Junior High will be April 7-11 in Minneapolis MN

The 2010 High School will be April 14-18 in Columbus OH

The 2010 Elementary will be May 5-9 in Atlanta GA

The 2010 K-12 will be December 8-12 in Orlando FL

The 2011 events have not all been placed yet, just the Elementary, which will be May 4-8 in Dallas TX.

Those dates seem a little “longer” than usual? Do you mean April 9-11, April 16-18, May 7-9, and Dec. 10-12? I’m not including the traditional Thursday side events.

Also, Junior High and High School on back-to-back weekends?!

That’s what I got from Pat, I suspect it indicates the dates various meeting rooms need to be available for setup.

The usual calendar is to have side events on Thursday with the main event starting on Friday and running through Sunday, but setup in the TD room and Chess Control usually starts on Wednesday.

I wondered about back-to-back weekends myself, though I haven’t looked at the 2010 calendar to see where Easter and Passover fall.

Staffing will be a challenge on those don’t you think?

Allen, perhaps you will be interested in working the one in Columbus. The two NTD’s and the most active local TD in Columbus happen to be tax accountants.

Hilarious that it falls on April 15th then. You all could party together on being off work that day!! lol

Okay, those dates make sense if they’re what Pat is planning for. Although I’m still wondering/concerned about the back-to-back nationals. Especially since my g/f will have sons in both tournaments.

Easter is April 4 that year.

Big sigh!

Yep I could - best thing about being an auditor - 4/15 means a lot less.
