Looking for club organizers who are willing to share some information about how they manage club dues (or don’t). Here is a bit of what I’m curious to learn (though any context would be welcome). If you aren’t a club organizer, but have first hand knowledge of your club’s policy, I’d also like to hear from you!
Do you collect club dues at all?
If so, what is the standard time period? (e.g. Annual dues)
What do you charge for that time term?
If someone joins mid-term, do you pro-rate, or do you do rolling memberships (e.g. March to March) or do you charge the full amount.
Is it easy or difficult to track all this at the moment?
What payment methods do you accept?
Do any members expect to be able to pay with credit card?
$36 annually (after two free visits), prorated from the start of the dues year. Cash or checks (no credit card processing available even though that is requested). Tracking is easy but tedious.
I built an interface into our pairing/tournament registration/club management application around all your feedback regarding club dues. We are using it for our club now. Thanks for the help. I would have totally missed the membership period start date had you not mentioned that your club rolls July-June. Let me know if anyone has any other dues ideas!
