Hmmm… I just tried to renew a membership on-line for $39 for a friend of mine that does not have a CC, so I used my CC. I was not allowed to do that because that friend’s address did not match my CC info. How can I make that happen for $39?
I can make it happen, but not for $39. My friend does not want to join for more than that.
Sigh, thanks for the hints; however, no luck! There is some sort of time security CC breach I violated; i.e., I made error number one and then it looks like I tried too soon afterward to fix it (via your suggested route–which I should have used to start with to avoid this whole mess!?). Sheesh, Talk about needing a kid to open the childproof packages.
Your e-mail did solve the problem (hey, my keyboarding skills need improvement).
I appreciate the time you spent on this. How does that time compare with the time it would take to change the generic “time error” message I recieved (requiring your input after voicing my frustrations) to one of a generic “data entry error” message (probably not requiring any input from you) that would have, for me, been more useful? I realize it is not a simple one-to-one swap. Both errors (among many others) can occur and extensive programing may have to take that into account.
BTW: Once I asked for what I thought was a simple change in WinTD from Tom Doan. He told me about the many hours of work it would take. I withdrew my request and changed my attitude.
It was not clear to the program that processes the transaction that this was a data processing error, all it knew was that the transaction was rejected by our credit card processor. Thus the message you got was that the transaction was denied, because that’s all the information it got back. (I assume they limit the amount of information reported back for security reasons.)
The ‘time error’ you refer to is not really an error but an advisory message that may be confusing more people than it helps.
I’ve changed the program to add "Note: " to the front of those message, that may help to clarify that they are not error messages.
