So, I’m playing in an USCF rated correspondence tourney via email. My opponent hasnt moved in a couple weeks, so i resend my last moves. The way we’ve been playing it, new moves in both games have been sent in the same email. He responds pretty promptly. In a note after the notation for the first game, he resigns. The second game is also there and he has made a new move. This email arrived in my inbox at 9:35pm. His move seems to lose a lot of material. You know how it goes, perhaps I’m missing something obvious, or maybe I’m missing something profoundly deep, but right now I think it loses badly. At 9:42pm, I receive another email with only this game in it, and a different move for the same move number! This move keeps the status quo, I’m up about an exchange and a pawn. There is no commentary. I have to assume the first move sent is the one I’m supposed to record as the official move?
The first move sent is the one that your opponent must live with, unless it’s illegal. As you explain it, there is a time sent which determined which was sent first.
You should also have received the rules with your assignment.
Just like in over-the-board play “you touch it, you move it”, in correspondence it is “you send it, you move it”…
