Custom Rating Lists

I have a suggestion for the custom rating lists. I would like to get a list of current ratings for everyone who played in one of our tournaments over say the last year. Currently, I can do this by downloading all the crosstables, merging them and removing duplicates or by requesting a regional rating list and editing it. Both of which involve work whenever a new rating list comes out
Any chance of seeing something like this?

By ‘our tournaments’ do you mean ones you directed, ones your affiliate sponsored or would you want to give a list of 12 digit event IDs?

This is doable, but is not likely to be a high priority task. It doesn’t sound too complex, though, and every now and then I work on such a short task because:

A. I only have time to do a short task.
B. I need a break from some other longer or harder task.
C. It seems interesting or useful.

This is similar to what I was thinking about, but on a smaller scale. Another TD and I run some tournaments at a small club where we may only have 8 to 10 people there. I typically don’t bring my computer, and I don’t always have internet access. The other TD doesn’t use pairing software at all. I end out submitting his tournaments online for him to speed up the process.

What I’d like to be able to do at the beginning of each month is go to the MSA and type in the ID numbers for my members and get a list of those players with their current official rating. I can do this one at a time, but I’d like to be able to type them in on one page, and then get a list.

Example: Input 12345678, 13456789, 12468123, 14243211, 11223344

output:

12345678 Bob Bishop 12/31/2007 1816
13456789 Patty Pawn 03/31/2008 1566
12468123 Karl King 01/31/2008 957
14243211 Robert Rook 02/28/2009 1600
11223344 Nancy Knight 03/31/2007 1745

Then this list could be printed out and brought to the club. This would be useful now that printed supplements won’t be available any longer.

I agree that dropping the printed rating supplements raises the priority of this request.

MSA can’t quite produce the list the way you have specified it, but if you type in a list of IDs separated by spaces or commas, it will now look up all of those IDs and display them in the standard MSA search results format, which includes the player’s current published rating and expiration date.

MSA really needs a top-to-bottom rewrite, including a complete redesign of the MSA database and a much better search engine, along with making it look more like the rest of the website and cleaning up a number of other formatting issues.

That was pretty easy.

I created a text file with just the numbers like this

11315844,12483626,12842058,12585119,12542549

Then I copied them to the clipboard and pasted them into the search field and got this back, which I simply copied to the clip board and pasted here.

12585119 (IL) 2007-08-31 1865 1596 GETZ, HENRY BARNEY
12542549 (IA) 2006-12-31 2195 2117 KARAGIANIS, PETE DEMETRIOS
12842058 (IL) 2008-01-31 1418 1220P STREITMATTER, DREW
12483626 (IL) Life 1636 1550 SUAREZ, RONALD J
11315844 (IL) 2007-10-31 1593 1600 ZIMMERLE, R WAYNE

You could just as easily paste it into a text file and print it out.

Either way. I run weekly quads, usually around 20 players for a single affiliate. While there’s a lot of regulars, For a given year there might be 50-60 different players. It’s something I can do myself but a little tedious if I want to do it every month when the new ratings come out. I understand there are higher priorities.

If you know those 20 IDs, you can use the multiple ID search feature added to MSA yesterday.
