for all of DE, current members, any published regular rating, Aug 2005 supplement. I got 147 records.
same as above only with “last published rating” - I got 146 records.
The difference in #1 was a George P Lahm who had a P/3 rating from a long time ago. He shouldn’t have shown up on either list.
Also, both lists included Paul Powell with a last activity date of a tournament from 2003 that was only quick rated. Previous lists I had generated had the last activity date from his last regularly rated tournament. I’m thinking something is wrong - or is it me?
This appears to be an inconsistency (one of many) in our database from the old ratings system. Mr Lahm shows as having had a published rating from prior to 1992 but is shown as unrated prior to his 2003 event, but with a 667 post-event rating, which is the same as the one dated from before 1992.
I’m not sure why that would cause him to show up on one list but not on the other.
We had several major system problems in 2003, this may be one of the records that got messed up, which could have been treated as an ‘old’ rating when I was initializing the ratings supplement history tables. (Any rated player for whom I couldn’t find a rating supplement record starting with the first ratings supplement diskette in June of 2002 was treated as having a pre-1992 rating.)
If you’re sure he never played prior to 2003, even under a different ID, I can delete the pre-1992 rating supplement record.
I’m not sure what happened with Mr Powell. However, according to our logs, in both cases you asked for all published rating, which would include players who are not in the current or forthcoming supplements. (The date selection just determines when it cuts off recent supplements, so that you can still generate lists of players from a supplement even after the next supplement is prepared.)
Also, when someone’s regular rating changes but not their quick rating, or vice versa, it still generates a rating supplement record with BOTH ratings in it.
Thanks, Mike - I guess I just wanted to let you know that something changed. We change our state ‘top 35’ list evey other month, and when I ran a trial list on June 29th, Mr Lahm did not appear, and Mr Powell’s last activity date was 1994-03-09 which matches his last REGULAR rating change (which is what I wanted) …
And July 1 it was the same way. When I ran it July 4 to get the August supplement they were different. So something happened between the 1st and the 4th.
