DGT Electronic Chessboard

Does anyone know where you can get one of the DGT electronic chess boards in the US? The only sellers I’ve found so far are overseas, and the prices are around the $800 mark after currency conversions. I don’t mind spending a little to get it, but i find that a bit excessive. It looks like they used to be closer to the $550 mark, based on what seems to be an old page at the House of Staunton and a few other sites that no longer carry it.

I am open to purchasing a used one if anyone has one they would like to sell, or a comparable product if one exists. Suggestions anyone?

Thanks in advance.

A player in my state owns several, which he allows to be used to broadcast games of major state events. He bought them all used, several on eBay, I am told, in the $350 range, but I’ve never found one for sale there.

It’s odd for a new electronic technology to rise in price - nearly everything gets cheaper with acceptance due to the economy of scale. Unfortunately, the DGT boards don’t seem to follow this trend.

Man, he got a stole those if he got it for $350. The only one I’ve found on ebay so far is about $650 or so after shipping (thanks to another forum member for sending me the link).

Yeah, they are neat. I actually have one i’m selling. It would be much better if it larger, the pieces are tiny.

Hesitate on selling it. It is a wonderful relic from the past. The history of computer chess playing machines and robots all in one.
