Feedback on chess club websites?

Hi,

I’m in high school and created a website for both my school chess club and for the new Greater Richmond High School Chess League. This was the first year for both of the websites, and I’d like to expand on them and make them better over the summer.

The school chess club site is http://mlwgschess.us, and the GRHSCL site is at http://grhscl.us. I’d appreciate any feedback on what I can do better, change or add. Thanks.

Michael, the site looks good. How long have you been working on it?

One thing I would point out is that in the “about us” link, you don’t say which State Richmond is in. I assume it’s Va., though it could also be Indiana  (I doubt it, but you get the point). People tend to leave out information that only they may take as obvious. Afterall, everyone searching for your site probably knows which State it’s in, the theory goes. But they may not, too!

I have had bad habits of leaving off “years” from tournament flyers, Like July 29. Evansville Chess Festival. As years go by and I am searching archived events, I find myself frustrated by the fact there’s no damn year there, and so I have to research further to know for sure. I’m probably a bit anal, but aren’t chess players supposed to be?

Anyway, my two cents. Your site otherwise looks great. Perhaps fill in the the “white” (blank) space on the Home pages.

Good luck,

Site is very well done! You might consider a directions link - even though you might think that everyone in the area knows how to get to your school, directions could be helpful to others coming from other schools - especially if you have tournaments against other school districts at some point. Best of luck with your events!

Good point.

Good idea, but is there something not fully dated on my site? (probably is…) And yeah, we’re all like that.

Thanks, I don’t know why I didn’t think of that. It should be on the GRHSCL site too, for each school.

Thanks for your feedback.
