Hi there my name is Scott and I’m looking to get something started in Westend or Insbrook are in Richmond VA. Anyone around these areas want to start a meeting and get a club started again I am up for it. I recently moved into appartments in the insbrook area with my wife and im thinking about asking the office to start a chess night. I hope that others read this post and would like to meet. Did you play in the Hanover County Open on Saturday? That would have been the place to meet the Richmond players.
I had some real life stuff going on Sat for Tournament and would have loved to get there to play.
Lulu’s Creamery in Hanover (near Sliding Hill and Atlee station) would be interested in hosting chess on Saturday afternoons.
Also, there will be another tournament at Atlee High School on May 26th.

As far as I am aware, there are no active clubs in the Richmond area. Please contact me if you need help in organizing one. There is an active scholastic organization in Richmond. I am certain that they would also be willing to help you get started as a club and TD.

The Virginia Chess Federation does a good job with transparency.
We have quite a few members in the Henrico Chess Club that are likely to live close to richmond as well. Perhaps we can think about arranging a tournament against the two clubs?

I live very close to Innsbrook and I am interested. Currently I mostly go to one chess club in Bon Air on the southside, but it would be nice to have a closer option. Bon Air has a nice atmosphere and good group of people. I really like their format with quads and they have their own rating system to match the people to a competitive quad.
