If this tool prevents multiple voting, then this would be a great way for the USCF leaders to get public opinion on a variety of issues quickly and easily. It would also be an easy way for chess club leaders to guage opinion on local club issues, too.
This is a new tool that Google just came up with. The question is how secure is it? It would be helpful to know.
I have a poll on my blog. Should the USCF shut down the issues forum? I tried to vote twice and it wouldn’t let me. If this is the same for everybody else, too, then this would be great!
Would someone try “stuffing the ballot box” as a test?
I had voted about 90 minutes ago. It let me change my vote and then change it back. It appears to be working fine for me. And now everyone knows how I voted.
I don’t know anything about Google’s polling tool, but the authentication issue is still going to be the same. How do you keep someone from voting more than once and/or from voting as someone else?
IP addresses are not good enough, because they can change and be reused. I suppose they could use someone’s gmail address, but you could have more than one of those.
