I have 3 boys, 1 is already registered on this site as a member player with an ID but he no longer participates. I have my second child who wants to do a tournament in a few weeks. How do I sign him up with a new player ID? The site won’t let me create a new log in, it just logs me into my old account.
Many organizers and/or affiliates can do this for you, some using discounts via a voucher system.
Here is one example [Houston (Scholastic) Chess Association] Group Membership
Also, you can do it yourself online, but first log out of USChess website, then you can join as a new member for your second child.
Do you have the same issue with a different computer that was never used to contact US Chess? If not then you may need to manage your computer’s automatic logins.
If you do have the same problem on different computers that have not been used before then contact member services to see if there is any back-end issue.
In the mean time, a TD can do the registration.
I think you can create a new membership without logging in. Given all the complaints about accidentally creating a new ID for someone when trying to renew someone’s membership, this seems like it should be easy to do.
However, I think each login must have a unique email address.
I have never understood why each member needs a unique email address. If a parent is registering more than one minor aged child why not allow the use of the parent’s email for all the children they register?
I don’t really understand it, either, but it is a commonplace requirement in systems, probably a security measure somewhere or part of the password reset feature. We made the developers very aware of the fact that we had thousands of members who shared an email address with another member, starting with the RFP.
