The ICA’s website is now il-chess.org rather than the old name without the dash. The old site does not forward to the new site. Organizations that have links to the old site may find it advisable to update those links.
The Forums there are not functional at this time.
I attempted to log in and literally nothing happened. I then clicked the link that would send me a new password. I used that new password and still no access to the forum.
I also have noticed that no one has posted to the forum since Oct. 16. At that time, the previous web address worked just fine.
I imagine that Sevan, who is the webmaster for the ICA, is most likely redoing the web page, and the one that Jeff found is simply a place where Sevan has “parked” the old one.
No Ron it’s not a place holder. There were issues with the domain re-registration and we weren’t notified of the issues. In the lapse a domain scavenger picked it up and is trying to extort the ICA for $3000 for the domain. Hence why I’ve put up il-chess.org for now.
I have to fix all of the links on the site so the forums will work properly and the emails.
Ron - FYI - the forums are working again. Links and emails are on agenda for fixing next.
I’ve corrected the links to the ICA pages at gpcf.net
I have corrected the Springfield Chess Club’s http://springfieldchessclub.110mb.com link to ICA.
I’m in favor of keeping the new address (il-chess) and tell the scavenger that he can stuff it.
Good work Sevan for getting everything up and running so soon.
Hey thanks for posting this. Since I have just started reviewing all my local sites and clubs for chess I was a little confused about what was going on with the Illinois site. Now I understand.
