A sad case, but in my opinion the rules are clear and they had no wiggle room. The player involved was gracious in thanking FIDE for making it clear that she had not cheated. Clearly they recognized that her integrity should not be impugned in this situation, but the published rules still need to be followed. If they are found to be too draconian, change them for the future. In the meantime, the players are responsible for making sure such mishaps don’t occur.
So, apparently they searched her on the way out but not on the way in? Or did they just do a more thorough search the second time?
