Olympiad success in round 2

Open 3.5-.5
Women 3.5-.5

On to round 3

Nakamura’s game was interesting.

Um, don’t you mean ‘Olympiad success in round 2’?

That would be redundant with the scores given. He’s giving best wishes for round three success. At least that could be his story and he can stick to it.

Of course I do - edited to fix

round 3 pairings
open - Venezuela
women - Uzbekistan

How about that Faroe Island team?

3 IMs from a population of just 50,000.

Well, it isn’t very likely they will have an unbeaten record at the end of today as they take on Azerbaijan, but just seeing a team from such an obscure place is kind of cool.

And how do they decide just which subdivisions of countries get to have a team? The Faroe Islands are part of Denmark. Meanwhile, I understand that England, Scotland, and Wales often compete separately in international competitions, but there is a team from Jersey? And a different team from Guernsey? Could Maui send a team?

The list of FIDE federations is on the FIDE site, and the FIDE regulations should have the current procedure for being recognized by FIDE.

Puerto Rico is also considered a separate federation by FIDE.

Could each of the American Indian nations send a team? Go Seminoles!!! Ya, ya ya a a, ya, ya, a a a!!! Would the tomahock elbow gesture be considered a distraction? Or even obscene in some countries?
