Looking for user-friendly chess software

I am new to USCF, so forgive me if this query has already been addressed.
I am looking for a chess program that would allow me to review a game I have played in real life and make suggestions for alternate moves along the way. I don’t necessarily need the most expert chess program as I am far from an expert player. More important would be a program that works well and easily as I am not a computer expert either.
An extra but not necessary bonus for me would be if the program could also be installed in my handheld PDA (Windows Mobile based).
Thanks.

I think ChessBase is generally the standard among players, but it can be expensive for a new player. You might want to start with ChessBase Light and if you like it and want more functionality, you can either upgrade or get ChessBase 10.

I don’t believe you can load them onto your PDA, but you can also consider PocketFritz. From my own experience, ANY chess program that can save games to PGN format is good. Just download the games to ChessBase later and do your analysis there. No need to do it on the PDA.

I use Fritz to review my games. I just move the pieces to enter the game and it shows me how badly I played as I go along.

I use Fritz, too. I have Fritz 9, and it has a feature called “blunder check”, which will go through an entire game and give better lines wherever there was a mistake made.

For more subtle cases, you can also ask Fritz to do a deep analysis of any particular position.
