Multiple entries for a tournament in MSA

The presence of two distinct MSA entries for a single tournament raises a few questions. The only example I’m aware of is the 33rd Queen of Hearts:

200502136161 - corrected crosstable
200502137221 - erroneous crosstable

In this case, there were errors in the crosstable first rated, then a corrected crosstable was processed. Questions:

(1) Doesn’t this result in different ratings than if only the correct crosstable was processed?

(2) How common is it for a single tournament to have multiple MSA entries?

(3) Is there a reliable way to tell if a particular tournament is listed more than once (since the names are not always identical)?

For events that were entered on the old ratings system and were dual rated (ie, both regular and quick), there are usually two separate event IDs.

For events entered on the new system, which includes all events that ended in 2005, we indicate dual-rating by setting the rating system at the section level, so an event should only have one 12 digit USCF Event ID unless it is submitted in several parts. (For example, the K-1 section of SuperNationals III was sent to us separately by the TD, so it has a different event ID.)

It sounds like that event may have been entered and rated more than once because of the correction, in which case the TD should contact Walter Brown (wbrown@uschess.org) to make sure that we have deleted any duplicated sections.

A deleted section is not supposed to show anywhere, if one is that’s an issue I need to deal with.
