Software for recording correspondence chess

Greetings. I am currently playing some USCF correspondence quads. What is the best software out there to keep track of the games, times, etc (and doesn’t cost 3-4 paychecks)?

Hi try BabasChess available at babaschess.net

It’s intended for use with FICS (Free Internet Chess Server) which is the rebel rival to ICC (where ICC charges its members)

To do what you want and asking for:

  • Download BabasChess
  • Don’t login as a member (as you probably don’t have a free account associated with FICS)
  • Click Edit on their toolbar
  • Next click New local game
  • Followed by a small window which shows up bubble in standard and hit OK
  • Finally begin make your moves for each side and hit FileSave to (B)PGN…
  • Each time your opponent sends you their move just reopen the file and resave.

If all you want is to record the games as they are in progress, you may want to check out Shane’s Chess Information Database (SCID.) scid.sourceforge.net/

Can’t beat the price!

ChessBase has dedicated functions for correspondence management. It would surprise me if Chess Assistant doesn’t.

Seconding Ray, BabasChess is a nice program, also. (Though I only use it to access FICS and not for database functions. Note to self: You have yet to install BabasChess on this laptop. )

I currently use Chess Tool Pocket. It is Freeware.

There are some others on the internet, but this one is the most updated, presently.

SCID is another great program (have it too) though BabasChess’ UI is more cleaner and exciting looking plus there’s more give to customizing than in SCID. He’d/she’d ok with whichever of the 2 they’d select.
