TLA Sorting

Here’s a thought, at least for the on-line TLAs. Don’t have cross-state listings, but instead allow a player to browse more than one state at a time. For example, a player near the CA-NV border could, instead of first looking at the CA events and then at NV, could specify CA and NV. The website would then generate a combined listing, mixing the two together in order by date.

This seems like a simple issue. The more listings one wishes to PAY for, the more listings
wherever he can buy. If one wishes to advertise his tournament in all 50 states in the TLA,
the more the merrier for USCF.

And, in regard to TLAs, a key purpose of them should be to generate a profitable cash flow
for USCF. Yes, these are important in that by advertising events, USCF sells new memberships,
and renewals, but bottom line is that this area should not be a marginal or negative cash outlay.

You might feel differently if you were organizing a tournament in East St. Louis, for example. Sure, the tournament will be in Illinois, but the majority of the PLAYERS would be from MO. Why should an organizer there have to risk not being noticed by a large number of his potential players? YOU might be used to looking at all the neighboring states that you’re interested in, but those that live in large cities might neglect the neighboring states. Just let the organizer run the ads in as many states as he wants to pay for.
