If one has submitted a TLA and paid for it, does it not appear on the website until the month when it appears in print?
The full details of the TLA will not be displayed online until the issue it is in comes out, but there will be a link to the TLA details (as maintained in the TLA Tracking System at the office, and thus subject to revision) on the TLA search by state page (main.uschess.org/index.php?optio … Itemid=199) and in other places where we give links to TLAs for upcoming events, such as TLA Mail.
That link is available as soon as the TLA is paid for, so organizers who pay for their event well in advance get the benefit of additional months of having that link available online.
I’ve been tracking the number of ‘hits’ on those links, last week we had a total of 1388 hits on 300 TLAs from 794 different IP addresses. Of those, at least 879 of them came from the TLA search by state page.
So if you’re wondering about your July 10th event in Freeport, look towards the bottom of the page under Illinois and you’ll see a link to the TLA.
Ahhh. There we go. I didn’t think to scroll past July.
Now, the difference between the Online Tournament Search Results and the Future TLA Search Results is . . . what? Is there an option to list a tournament online but not in print?
Future TLAs are print TLAs scheduled to appear in an upcoming issue of Chess Life or CL4K that have been paid for (or are coded as free TLAs and the copy has been approved by the organizer).
Online TLAs are a free service; they will only appear online, not in print.
The Online TLA Service never really took off, at present there are just 57 Online TLAS for upcoming events available. (By comparison, I think we usually have 200 or more TLAs in each issue of Chess Life.)
