Top 100 Girls Lists- A Thought

In the submission of a recent tournament, I received four alerts all having to do with the gender of the player not being known by USCF. Over the last decade plus, I have become increasingly aware that in a rush to complete a sometimes arduous task
of getting a tournament submitted, some tournament directors fail to provide information that while not required to get a tournament entered, could have consequences for the those players with new or renewed memberships at a later date.

Not entering gender information is a key area. Of the four alerts I received two were for female players with no gender coding.

With no gender coding, they cannot qualify for top 100 girls lists. Not a happy thought.

I would urge each of you, and myself included, to do a better job in this area.

For I do believe that a number of girls with higher ratings would be on the list if they had been correctly gender coded.
