See chess.com–they are light years ahead of USCF.
@chess.com
No thanks. I’ve used them. Completely overrated, overpriced and the ads are so obnoxious that it doesn’t make me want to be a member, but just stop using it forever. Hoping USCF provides a relatively ad free experience to members and an alternative to all the freebie servers out there.
It’s nice to see my original post still going strong. I see everyone view points and hope one day USCF would have online capability. I do not like playing on chess.com as well because of all the Ads but then again its how they make their money. Chess on the internet is blown up these days and I would like to have a place that would offer “virtual” Chess clubs. I am a very busy person and don’t have a lot of time getting to chess clubs. Another option or membership is to offer virtual Chess clubs. I am thinking about making a club up that will have virtual boards, stream video, training …etc… Do you all think this idea would work or doom to fail?
@Whiteravenx
I think the virtual chess clubs is a good idea raven. I think your challenge is going to be how it would differ say from the “groups” on chess.com or similar things. In a way those are “virtual chess clubs”, but in all honesty, they’re more like a bunch of people that join up under a group because it has a cool name. hah. So, I would seek to separate your idea from that “group” style of club.
I see that USCF is making up a online chess site. I just signed up on it for beta but currently not live yet lol… Still working on that virtual club idea
