Greetings,
I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving! I am a descendant of John Howland, who came over on the Mayflower, fell off, and was pulled back aboard by holding on to a fishing pole line. So, my Thanksgiving wishes mean just that much more.
Anyway, a lot of chess stuff has happened since my last email.
Two chess champions were crowned. GM Magnus Carlsen (World) retained his title for the third time, and Brian Rountree (City) won his first title. Congratulations to both!

This week’s position comes from Brian Rountree’s title run, where he cut the line on Jesse’s Williams fishing pole-style attack. It is white to move.
