The CSCC Championship started on Tuesday night with 3 former champions battling to reclaim the crown (not an actual crown)! Last year’s champ, Jeff Fox, suffered a defeat at the hands of former champ, Dan Avery. Here is Dean Brown’s report:
“Dean William Brown directed and played in Round 1 of the non-USCF Colorado Springs (City) and Chess Club Championship. 8 of the 14 attendees joined the tournament. Buck Buchanan(2010) beat Paul Covington(1909), Dan Avery(1979) timed-out Jeff Fox(1838), Imre Barlay(1967) lost to Dean Brown(1631), and Paul Anderson(1909) beat Peter Swan(1267)…Round 2 is next Tuesday night and you may join in for the last 3 rounds at 0 pts for an EF of $5.”

COLORADO SPRINGS CHESS CLUB

The Colorado Springs Chess Club meets Tuesday evenings in the spacious Ballroom of the Acacia Apartment Building at 104 E. Platte, just north of Acacia Park. The building opens about 6:30PM.
