Been doing some combination problems lately, and thought I’d post this zinger.

I only post games occasionally when I think it’s reflective of something I’ve learned recently.

The position I posted it the critical point of the game, and the only position I really spent some time looking at. I knew I felt the position was ripe for a tactic.

As per usual, I didn’t check for best play using an engine to analyze the game later, since it’s not really indicative of play at mortal levels one sees at a chess club or a coffee house. I’m fairly certain white has an advantage after the bishop move.

The tactics I’ve been practicing is attacking 2 different pieces at once, with several variations of how to do that, but where I have to try and find the sequence of moves that leads to, in this case, a forking attack.

In any event, in the diagram, it seems so obvious, but when your on the clock and scanning for tactics every move, it’s less obvious due to players tending to focus on certain squares that are actively being challenged.

I dunno, when I was playing the game, the tactic seemed so much better than when I posted a snapshot of it here.

That being said, I think the opponent would’ve been fairly busted if he’d used the pawn on g7 to take the white bishop. In any event, it’s that position I posted that’s critical, not the follow up move where the white’s knight forks pieces.
