Perhaps Brian is unaware that some people take time off around the holidays. Or perhaps he is well aware of that but cannot resist tossing darts at Randy (admittedly a mutual hobby for those two)
I was somehow under the impression that forum posts took a lot less time than EB duties, and did not take blocks of time as large as those needed by EB duties.
I don’t think Mr. Heck is “speaking for NY”. He is speaking about his own personal axe to grind. And he has been shown more than once how to assist - but won’t. I suspect that is because he has found, as have we, that space issues and price points for US Chess events don’t match too well in his home state.
If I were from NY then I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t want him speaking for me. His disrespect of others and his disdain for anyplace else does not speak too highly of him or anyone who wants to claim him.
To the OP, Merry Chauvinism! Yeah, all of those kids were certainly thinking only of their state and not their schools, parents who support them, and their chess pals while they were competing.
Something to note in this season of peace and giving. In these scholastic tournaments, it is a wonderful thing to see many of the kids give little gifts and trinkets to their opponents before the game to celebrate their friendship and love of the game of chess. Congratulations to all of the kids for understanding what the game is about.
yes, i found the original post distasteful at best. i didn’t understand the point. the state with one of the largest populations has the largest turnout at a national event? who’da guessed it?
