December Rating List

Usually the cutoff for the next rating supplement is the first Friday of the previous month, but that date may not been used for the December list (e.g., uschess.org/msa/MbrDtlTnmtHst.php?13137307 )?

Note that the crosstable you cite reflects a re-rate. The December list would have been based on the ratings from the original crosstable, before the re-rate the following week.

Did the player’s post-event rating change based on the re-rate? Perhaps a result was wrongly reported at first? It looks like a half-point difference might make a difference of 11 points at that k-level. (Actually that seems a tad high for a 2000s player, but it’s in the plausible range.)

Curious…

The December rating supplement was run as scheduled starting just ahead of midnight on Fri, Nov 5th. However, once we add more events and do a rerate, it isn’t always apparent from MSA what the last event was in someone’s official rating.

Also, I think there were around 10 players who were in FIDE events that were on the latest FIDE Rating List for whom the adjustment to their USCF rating wasn’t posted in time to make the cutoff on Nov 5th.

I believe that after those FIDE events were in and rerated, Walter Brown made corrections to the December official ratings for those individuals.

Related question, in the bad old print days there was an ‘Events Rated’ list associated with each rating list so you could determine if a particular tournament was included with the rating list. How do I do that now? How can I tell which tournaments were included in the Dec 10 list and which tournaments are included in the 2010 Annual list?

And no, I have no desire to go back to printed supplements exceept that a print Annual supplement would be nice for resolving probelems some times. Is a printed annual supplement still available?

The easiest way is probably to look at a specific event on MSA and look at the ‘date rated’ field. The ratings cutoff is the 1st Friday of the month, so events rated by December 3rd will be on the January 2011 list and events rated on the 4th will not.

There is a ‘tournaments rated’ search page at uschess.org/datapage/event-search.php, but it uses the event ending date, not the date it was initially rated.

There should be a list of the events rated for each rating supplement, like the printed supplements used to have. The tournaments on the MSA page could list the supplement in which they were rated, and this list could also be repeated in the Rating Supplements tab.

What rating list is/will be Clovis Chess for Kids be on? Event ID is 201011134341. Rated:2010-11-18.

I have updated my SwissSys rating list with both the December list and the 2010 Annual list and the results for this tournament do not show up when I register these players for the next event. Perhaps I am doing something wrong on my end but it will be easier to troubleshoot if I know that one of these supplements include this event.

Those lists were generated on the the first Friday in November - the 5th. So since that event was held on Nov 13th, it would be a little hard to include it with them.

It should be included with the events this Friday to generate the January supplement.

Just confirming: A Dec rating supplement is accurate as of Nov 5?

Depends.

For most players, yes. However, as noted up-thread, there were a few players (10 or 11, I think) who had participated in foreign FIDE-rated events on the November FIDE Rating List that didn’t get processed in time to make the Nov 5th cutoff, so those players had an adjustment to their December ratings once those events had been processed.
