A friend of mine just replaced his old computer and got a new one running Vista. I was not there, but he tells me that after he installed fritz 8, his computer would not work and he had to do a system restore. Does anyone have experience using Fritz 8 with Vista? While on the Vista subject, will chessbase light work under Vista?

ChessBase Light wouldn’t work for me under Vista. 
My new computer came with Vista installed.
I’ve since dumped Vista and installed XP and now all is right with the world. 
But I believe that Fritz X worked okay for me under Vista. Didn’t keep Vista long enough to really check out everything that wouldn’t work properly. Far too many of my programs would either crash or simply not work under Vista.
I highly recommend anyone to stay away from Vista until they, Microsoft, actually get it right.

I’m glad it worked for you. I sent email to chessbase about it not working for me. They requested some more information which I sent them, but I never heard from them again after that. I wonder if they fixed the problem I had back when I tried it.
I believe that no version of Fritz prior to Fritz X is compatible with Vista. I specifically purchased Fritz X because Fritz IX wouldn’t work.
