Help Needed Location State Champions

Dear State Affiliates:

I am organizing the 3rd annual “Champion of Champions”
event on the ICC (Internet Chess Club).

This tournament is to seed the winner into the US
Championships and the tournament will consist of all 52
State Champions. Hence the name “Champion of Champions”.

There is also a large cash prize fund!

The tentative play date for the Qualifying event is late
February 2007 with the proctored finals tentatively scheduled
for the beginning of March 2007.

I’ll have a full set of rules and the official dates for the
qualifying events and finals within 2 weeks.

Right now I need from each of you:

Name of the current State Champ
His/her email address & phone number

Please feel free to give them my contact information if
you do not feel comfortable passing me their info.

I’ll also need to find a USCF TD in the Champs
locality should he/she advance into the finals
as those games will be proctored.

The winner of the event will go to Las Vegas to play
in the US Championships.

Each and every player will also receive a free 1-year ICC
membership ($60 value).

Past experience tells me it takes a lot of time and work
to track down each State’s Champ so please, please, please
reply to me ASAP.

Thank you,
Duncan Oxley

Duncan, will alternates be able to play if the state champs are unavailable?
It appears that our top two finishers this year may not be available.

Yes, the State Affilate can nomnate a replacement.

Update: Bill Goichberg called me this morning and pointed out this is not quite correct. In past years this was true but this year the winner will be seeded into FURTHER qualifying events with the finals in Vegas apparently consisting of the final TWO players.

I apologize for any confusion.

Here is the wording in the revised rules:

The winner will be seeded into the 32-player field for the $100,000 “US Championship Satellite Tournament(s)”, the top two of which will go forward to Las Vegas in November to contest the US Championship title and top prize of $25,000.

Again, sorry for any confusion.
