Rating Estimator Dead End

I went to estimate a friend’s new rating after a tournament game.

On the page, in the first paragraph, there is an explanation of how this is the latest formula and factor as of June, 2008. Just after that it talks about the old one being at a site that the words, “click here” indicate.

I clicked on this link and got to a page that said it is only for USCF members. I was logged in at the time.

I went ahead and clicked the register link in that sentence and provided all the details it asked for including my pin and birth date. When I clicked the submit button it brought me back to a more main page. I then went through the same process again in an endless loop, never getting to see the old formula or anything like that.

If you no longer are going to have the link go to the page, just get rid of it.

I don’t see an obvious fix, that page is already set to ‘public’ status, so it shouldn’t be requiring you to log in.

I also do not get to the old calculator if I am not logged in, but I can get there if I am logged in.

One of the problems we see from time to time is that the site seems to ‘forget’ you’re logged in. Logging out, deleting cookies from main.uschess.org and then logging back in usually seems to fix that. It may be a Joomla bug.

I think it has been fixed, though I’m not sure I understand why the fix worked. :slight_smile:

(For you Joomladites, the page was set to ‘unpublished’ rather than to ‘published’ status.)
