Rating Report Glitches

I am attempting to upload a rating report from WinTD. WinTD seems to generate a complete report (the number of games in the summary looks right), but my upload to USCF only enters results and pairing for the first round of the tournament. The other rounds show as unpaired. Tried several browsers. Any ideas?

I’ll try the simplest possibility that has bitten me once or twice. Double-check the directory you are writing the WinTD tournament report to versus the directory you are picking the files up from.

Two ideas:

  1. Save the PTO file in a separate folder by itself–> that way when it generates the report, everything is contained within that folder (save to hard drive).

  2. Check to make sure last round box is saved, update scores/standings and save. Re-generate the USCF report and :exclamation:

Thanks ACEROOK and JWIEWEL, for these suggestions. I have tried these and cannot report any progress. The summary file “noname03.txt” lists 297 games, but when I import the tdexport.dbf, thexport.dbf, and the tsexport.dbf into uscf, their systems only reports 77 games…only round 1. Yet it lists the other rounds, with the games listed as unpaired, so it could be a WinTD issue or a USCF issue. One ominous note, I am running Windows 10, and recently had a update run on the machine.

I have never encountered this problem, so I am only guessing here, but I wonder if is possible that you have an unreported result? Since there seems to be no problem with round 1, I would look carefully at round 2. Check all games and all byes, and make sure that it is showing a result for each. If this doesn’t work I’m out of suggestions.

Did you have any sections that only had 1 round, like a extra rated section?

I have done some testing. It is a problem with the new 2C version of the upload files. If all the sections of your tournament do not have the same number of rounds, it will only accept the results in all the sections for the number of rounds in the section with the least number of rounds.

I have uploaded a tournament with the new 2C version of the files. Three sections has 3 round and we have one extra rated section. Uploading 2C version only produces results for two rounds. Uploading the older version files (without colors, etc) works fine. Also, adding a round to the extra rated section (making it 3 rounds) and/or eliminating the extra rated section, so that now ALL the sections have exactly the same number of rounds everything is fine.

NOTE: I am using SwissSys. So, the same problem occurs with WinTD and SwissSys.

The upload files certainly look fine. There’s nothing in the overall tournament file about the number of rounds—that’s in the sections file and it’s (by design) different for each section, so that sounds like some bug in the USCF end. As a workaround, I might try rearranging the sections so the short ones are first; if there’s a bug that it shortens to the last section length, it would work OK if the longest ones are the final ones. (That’s just a guess).

Putting the smallest one in the beginning worked for me. Yesterday’s tournaments had the same number of rounds in all sections but today’s was different.

Thanks WINTDOAN, that worked! Appreciate it!

There were 3 separate issues, two of which have been corrected and the third appears not to be causing any problems:

  1. The upload program wasn’t handling events in the 2C format with 11 or more rounds properly
  2. The fix for #1 caused the problem with multi-section events that didn’t have the same number of rounds

The 3rd issue is an apparent extra blank record that appears in the TSEXPORT and TDEXPORT files for the latest version of Swis-Sys. Thad has been notified of this, but it appears we are uploading events correctly and ignoring that blank record.

Dumb question from someone who hasn’t done this in a while:

What’s the 2C format?

secure2.uschess.org/TD_Affil/fileformat.php

It is a new upload format that includes more tournament information, including TD information, time controls, colors, Grand Prix data, etc…

That’s not a dumb question. 2C, or not 2C?, that is a dumb question.

So is this fixed on TD/Affiliate now?

yes!
