I received word that this club had closed its doors. Anyone know why? I played most of my tournaments there in the 1990s, and it was a top-rated club as recently as 2012.

A good place to ask for information about the RCCC’s closing might be the Tennessee Chess Association. Often, people who run clubs in a state may either be involved with the state association, or have direct contact with someone who is. Good luck in your search.
There’s nothing in the affiliate record, I’ve asked the USCF’s Club Director, Alan Kantor, if he’s heard anything.
I could be as simple as losing their site, or maybe a key volunteer is no longer able/willing to do the work.
Update: Alan says there’s no explanation offered on the club’s website: rccc.us
The club has re-formed as the Murfreesboro Chess Club: murfreesborochessclub.org/
