TDCC Committee Report 3-20-11

So far this year the TDCC has ruled, on the one TD complaint it received, in favor of the TD.

The digested version of the complaint: The case involved a scholastic player complaining the position on the board did not match their score, specifically due to a move on the board not matching a notation from two moves earlier. The opponent’s score reflected the correct position. The TD observed, earlier, that the opponent had written down the incorrect move on their score, which was almost immediately corrected; however, the incorrectly noted move was copied (and not corrected) by the complaining player on their own scoresheet. At the time of the misnotation no complaint was made by either player about anything. The TD denied the complaint regarding the position not matching the notation and instructed the players to continue the game from the current position. The complaining player eventually lost the game. The $25 good faith fee was not returned, as the committee felt the complaint against the TD was frivolous.

One new member joined the TDCC, Tracey Vibbert. One member of the TDCC resigned due to their new contracted duties with USCF, Al Losoff.

The chair continued to field questions regarding TD certification from TDs seeking advice on upgrading their TD status. Further, the chair worked with the USCF office in dealing with the procedures for most of the duties regarding TD Certification being assigned to a different staff member after the departure of Phil Smith (Phil still has some limited duties in that area).

Good call. I’m glad to see these committees (TDCC, ethics, rules) occasionally keep the $25, to discourage complaints as obviously frivolous as this one.
