The latest CCA policy on ratings

The following notice has just appeared in the CCA Newsletter:

USCF Regular Online ratings have become increasingly meaningful recently due to a lot of activity, a trend that will be accelerated with the September official list that includes the World Open and many other summer events.

Therefore, beginning in September, we are using the higher of Regular Online or Regular OTB for eligibility, pairings and prizes.

Online ratings cannot be accessed by our shopping cart because USCF does not offer them in a database, so when you enter you will still see your Regular OTB rating. However, if your Online Regular is higher, we will later do a manual edit, and move you to a higher section if necessary.

I love it! For one thing, anybody who has cheated his way to a higher online rating (and has not yet been caught) will now have to play in a higher section.

I hope this policy will apply also to CCA’s OTB events, if and when they resume.
