Why don’t we have a Top Players list for blitz ? Fide has it why hasn’t the uscf moved faster on it.
There should be top Blitz lists in the June lists when they get posted in the next week or two, along with a new top ‘age 50 and older’ list. (We’re having some systems issues getting the latest Top 100 lists posted.)
It is also worth noting that the USCF’s Blitz system isn’t all that old, until fairly recently there would have been some rather low ratings make the cutoff. (The women’s Blitz and Age 65+ Blitz lists are still rather sparse, there aren’t 100 Age 65+ players with established Blitz ratings yet.)
The June Top 100 lists have been posted and there are several new categories, including several ‘Top Age 50 and over’ lists and a set of Top 100 Blitz lists.
Two important items to note:
We have changed the date used to determine age for the lists to match the effective date of the ratings lists. This means that for the June 2014 Top 100 lists, age is as of June 1st, 2014.
To ensure accurate lists, players will not appear on Top 100 age-specific lists if their birthdate has not been verified by the USCF office. Likewise, players will not appear on the Top 100 Womens or Girls lists unless the information we have on their sex has been verified by the USCF office. If the information we have on a player’s birthdate or sex is changed (often as a result of a membership renewal), this updated information will need to be verified.
How do we view older lists (meaning from prior years)? This used to be available on the side of the page. Even knowing how to edit the url would be helpful. When I change just the 1406 in the address to 1306 I get the top overall, but I was on page that was looking at the top for a particular age group.
The link in the right hand column to the older lists disappeared at one point while I was trying to get the current list up, I’ll continue working on getting that link restored on Monday.
But if you bring up one of the current lists, you can change the month and year to get prior lists.
For example, the link to the overall list for June is uschess.org/component/option … &h=Overall
Change ‘1406’ to ‘1405’ to get the May 2014 Overall list, ‘1306’ to get the June 2013 list, etc. This change should work for any of the lists (though of course it won’t work for the new lists.)
As I said, I’m not looking for the overall list, but instead a particular age group.
For example, if I look for 13 year old list, the url that appears is
uschess.org/component/option … 20Age%2013
If I change 1406 to 1306 the page becomes the overall list, not 13 year olds. It does say June 2013 and Top Age 13 at the top, but the list shows Nakamura, Kamsky, etc.
Because we now have three sets of lists where the only differentiation is what rating system they’re showing, I had to make a change to the way the data is selected for June by specifically noting which rating system is to be selected.
This is the URL you started with.
uschess.org/component/option … 20Age%2013
To make it easier to read online, here’s the parameter list from the above URL:
?op=list&month=1406&f=usa&l=R:Top%20Age%2013&h=Top%20Age%2013
There are two changes that need to be made (not just one)
-
You need to change the month (1406 changes to 1306, for example)
-
You need to remove the rating system choice, in this case the ‘R:’ but it could also be ‘Q:’, ‘B:’, or ‘C:’, depending upon what list you’re after.
That makes the updated URL:
uschess.org/component/option … 20Age%2013
Here’s the revised parameter list:
?op=list&month=1306&f=usa&l=Top%20Age%2013&h=Top%20Age%2013
This appears to be the correct list. I’m still working on figuring out what got broken in the Top 100 list page to not show the list of past Top 100 lists, but at the moment that’s not the highest priority on my list.
Thanks for all of your hard work on keeping the website going
btw, do you have any help with all of the coding, or is it just you? what about testers (not counting regular users hitting the site naturally)?
The right hand column link to current and past Top 100 lists has been restored.
