U.S. Cadet Championship

So, is this national event being relayed or results or games posted anywhere?

No coverage anywhere, not even MonRoi. All I know is that the game this morning between Victor Shen and Rohan Agarwal will probably determine first place.

Well, fpawn, can you post some results/standings here? I see you’re tweeting stuff, but anything more comprehensive?

It would be nice to have a web page with the pairing, standing and games for the national event like U.S. Cadet Championship and U.S. Junior Closed Championship.

You would think so, right?

All I know is that Shen 1-0 Agarwal was played this morning. I assume that means Victor Shen is in clear first place with either 4.0 or 4.5 out of 5. Rohan Agarwal has 3.0/5.

go jarod!

Daily updates with games have been given to Jennifer Shahade. After six games, here are the standings (one round to go):

Andrew Ng (NJ) - 4-1/2
Victor Shen (NJ) - 4
Rohan Agarwal (CA) - 3-1/2
Michael Yang (MN) - 3
Deepak Aaron (NY) - 3
Christian Tanaka (CA) - 2-1/2
Jarod Pamatmat (TX) - 2
Matthew Dahl (MN) - 1-1/2

What are the last round pairings?

Round 7 (Friday):
Rohan Agarwal (white) versus Michael Yang (black)
Matthew Dahl (white) versus Jarod Pamatmat (black)
Victor Shen (white) versus Christian Tanaka (black)
Andrew Ng (white) versus Deepak Aaron (black)

The top three all have white in the final round, so anything can happen. But Andrew Ng appears to be in the driver’s seat and can clinch clear first with a win (or a share of first with a draw).

Congratulations to Andrew Ng of New Jersey for winning the national U16 championship!

Congrats Andrew and Victor – two members of the US Chess League’s New Jersey Knockouts!

USCF ran the event in their office, and it still isn’t hooked up to the latest technology.

Remember when we were told by USCF management that everything would be cheaper and better in Tennessee, and USCF “was not a New York organization.” I do.

I thought the event was in Crossville but not at the USCF office.

To a New Yorker, once you cross the Hudson geography becomes a bit sketchy.

Reminds me of the story about a woman who went to NY and would talk to her aquaintances about how they did things back in Iowa. Eventually one of those aquaintances got fed up and corrected her by saying that the pronounciation of the state was really Ohio.

The Cadet site was Cumberland County Bank, a few blocks from the USCF office.
