Great first day at the US Championship

Four of six games had decisive results. Naka looked worse until the complications boiled over his opponent. So looked to have lost most (all?) of his advantage until his opponent miscalculated. Robson may just be a dark horse contender after the ‘big three’ of Naka, So and defending champion Kamsky.

You can only wonder what tomorrow will bring . . .

Thanks for the update! I knew US Championship was coming up, but did not know the 1st round was playing today.

Wouldn’t it be great to have an immediately noticeable link to live coverage on the USCF home page?

I agree! I’m going to ask about that . . .

For those who want to follow along, the coverage at uschesschamps.com/ is stellar. You can just follow the games (and evaluations by a top computer program) or simultaneously listen in on commentary by Yassir Seirwan and Jennifer Shahade. It’s a GREAT way to take in the championship.

By the way, there is now a link on the front page of uschess.org to the US championship website, where the games can be viewed/followed along in real time.

!! Thanks. I plan on going to St. Louis on the 9th. they’ll be in deep by then, I guess

Great! Thanks to everyone who made this possible.

So-Sevian was a very fun game to watch.

Another super-exciting round today. Appreciate it falling on the weekend.
