Pardon me if this has been covered, but I couldn’t find it…
OK, I’m entering a round robin online (as opposed to uploading files) and I can’t find anywhere what exactly to put in the fields on the crosstable. How exacly do I fill it in?
How would I enter a 1/2 point bye/forfeit in the table?
Also, in another round robin I will be entering, we originally had six players, but the player in pairing number 5 withdrew after forfeiting the first game. How do I handle that online?
Yeah, there probably needs to be some more documentation written.
In general, you put in a letter code followed by the number of the opponent. (You can leave the opponent number out when entering Round Robin results, the column determines the opponent number.)
W – WIn
L – Loss
D – Draw
(When we add support for Double Round Robin events, I’ll go into how those are to be entered.)
Unplayed games do not require an opponent number:
X – Forfeit Win
F – Forfeit Loss
Z – Forfeit Draw (rare)
Unpaired rounds do not require an opponent number either:
H – Half point By
B – Full Point Bye
U – Unpaired
– Unpaired
It is traditional in Round Robin crosstables to put a ‘*’ in matching rows and columns, since a player cannot play himself. That’s treated the same as a ‘U’.
Some TDs will on occasion make rulings that require we treat the results of the two players inconsistently, such as both players having a win for ratings purposes. Personally, I’m opposed to such rulings, but we have historically allowed them.
When the results are to be inconsistent but ratable, use:
N – Win (derivation: wiN)
R – Draw (derivation: dRaw)
S – Loss (derivation: losS)
You could have even avoided the “U” by making it a 4-round Swiss, with a cross-round pairing between rounds 1 and 2 and another between rounds 3 and 4.
I just tried out rating my own QUAD for the first time last month. I must say that Mike has really gone the extra mile here in making everything very user-friendly and running smooth! Thanx, Mike!
I created my new memberships. I entered the crosstable manually. Viola, everyone had thier USCF ID numbers and new rating in MSA along with the crosstable in no time!
Just one question:
I paid online with my credit card. I noticed that the minimum charge was $3. That’s fine. What I’m wondering is how to add funds ahead of time? If I had such an online fund, would the minimum fee still be $3 or would it be less?
