USCF RULES OF CHESS 6TH EDITION

United States Chess Federation’s Official Rules of Chess, Sixth Edition will be released tomorrow. I ordered mine 2 weeks ago and it is due to get here tomorrow UPS. Since I haven’t read the rule book in 30-35 years I am looking forward to it.

I got mine yesterday!

Does this mean that the USCF will maintain separate update PDFs, one for the 5th edition and one for the 6th edition?

First, as an aside, congratulations to America’s newest IA, Tom Langland.

Second, to answer Mr. Langland’s question…if the question refers to the rules update PDF on the USCF website, my understanding is that there is only one current PDF of rules changes at any time. A new PDF will be created once the first update to the 6th edition is finalized. That update should be out not too long after the rulebook editor gets the final approved wording for the rules changes passed at last weekend’s Delegates Meeting.

Also, anyone with an electronic version of the sixth edition should get those changes pushed automatically as an update.

Good to know both the print and e-versions are available. Thanks to all who made that happen.

The print version from Amazon would be a hair more than $20 shipped to my home, with shipping and tax. I have the e-version and would like to get the print version—but will likely wait till I can do so for less $$$, at Amazon or elsewhere.

USCF Sales would seem a logical place to buy the latest edition of the USCF Official Rules of Chess. Maybe I missed it, but all I see there for sale is the 5th Edition. Might be a good idea to put a note on there about how it’s out of date…

I notice that Amazon is selling both new and used versions of the 6th edition. :open_mouth:

Bob

Actually there is a seller on Amazon selling the paperback for $11.96 with shipping at $3.99.

The used book category for this shows sellers offering only the new book with none used at this time.

Thanks much, Ron. I just ordered a hard copy edition from the seller you mention.

Ordered for $15.08 includes shipping with Amazon Prime. Of course you have to pay for Prime but in 6 months I got more than my $75 out of it for sure between the TV and the free 2 day shipping on many items.

Sorry for a “d’oh” type of question, but where and how may I get the electronic version of the new rulebook? TIA!

Amazon Prime just went up to around $99 a year, as I recall.

Yes, and as a Prime member I can tell you that the $99 is quickly recovered with the free 2 day shipping along with the included movies and tv shows streamed. They also have recently included a streaming music service, included.

Heck, the shipping alone is quickly covered with less than 10 purchases shipped, and it comes in 2 days.

How many additions, deletions, and corrections are in the 6th edition? tyia

Basically it’s what you get if you take the 5th edition and apply all the rule changes passed between 2003 and 2013, which you can see at: uschess.org/docs/gov/reports … hanges.pdf

I’d like to be able to support USCF while getting the new rule book, but following the instructions on the order form would lead to me paying $9.95 for shipping when it could be shipped Media Mail for $3 or less. No, thank you!
I got my new rule book from another supplier.
